Founded in France in 1994 and in Italy in 1997, Artemis Danza was first in residence at the Teatro Due Teatro Stabile in Parma and Reggio Emilia from 1998 to 2007, then at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna from 2014 to 2019. To date, in addition to Monica Casadei's creations, the company has produced and promoted many works by young authors, often supported by multi-year programmes, and has carried out numerous training initiatives, in the dual sense of professional development for dancers and introducing the public to the codes of dance. As an association, Artemis Danza has enjoyed the continuous support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Parma for 29 years; for its numerous projects abroad, it has received support from MAECI, the Emilia-Romagna Region and Cultura d'Europa. In 2005, “Artemis meets other cultures” (AICA) was launched, a project involving artistic residencies and tours abroad by the company, which has given rise not only to performances but also to workshops, publications, videos, reports and photographic exhibitions. Since 2002, Artemis has organised various contemporary dance festivals and promoted cultural, production and training activities. Over the years, choreographer Monica Casadei has developed various creative research projects inspired by the great Opera tradition and the masters of Italian culture. In the three-year period 22-24, the central theme of her creations is gender-based violence, with the productions Corpi Violati, Private Callas and Puccini's Opera–Voci di donne and Stabat Mater.
