Biography

Born in Tchaikovsky, Russia, Pavel Gomziakov began studying the cello at an early age. His talent led him to further his technique at prestigious institutions such as the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied under the renowned cellist Philippe Muller.

His international debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2010 marked a milestone in his career, establishing him as one of the most promising cellists of his generation. Since then, he has performed on the world's leading stages, collaborating with renowned orchestras such as the French National Orchestra and the Japan Philharmonic.

Gomziakov is particularly renowned for his chamber music performances. His duo with pianist Maria João Pires has been acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, performing concerts in the most prestigious venues in Europe, Asia and America. His recording of Chopin's complete works for cello and piano, released by Deutsche Grammophon, received a Grammy Award nomination, cementing his position as one of the most outstanding performers of our time.

He plays an exceptional 18th-century David Tecchler cello, an instrument that enhances the beauty and depth of his sound. The combination of his innate talent, rigorous training and exquisite instrument make him one of the most outstanding cellists of his generation.
