Founded in 1993 by the legendary conductor Djansug Kakhidze, the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra is one of Georgia's leading symphonic ensembles. Under the direction of Vakhtang Kakhidze since 2002, the orchestra has risen to international standards, touring France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Turkey, and Israel. It has recorded over 150 works for Sony Classical and other international labels. The orchestra also co-founded the annual "Autumn Tbilisi" International Music Festival, which has become Georgia's most popular musical event.
