One of the notable musicians of his generation, Turkish-American conductor, historical keyboard player and pianist Tolga Atalay Ün was born in 1995. He gained wide recognition in April 2016 when he appeared as a soloist and conducted from the keyboard with the Ankara Youth Symphony Orchestra at the opening concert of the International Ankara Music Festival. In 2019 he performed piano at a special concert held at the Royal College of Music during the annual visit of Charles III, and in 2022 he conducted the Presidential Symphony Orchestra from the harpsichord, becoming one of the youngest conductors to appear with the orchestra.
Since then, Ün has performed internationally as a conductor, harpsichordist and pianist with many orchestras including Roma Sinfonietta, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, CRR Symphony Orchestra, and several state opera and symphony orchestras in Turkey. He has appeared in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Salzburg Mozarteum, CSO Ada Ankara, and the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, performing in countries across Europe including the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Greece.
Ün studied piano, historical performance and conducting at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and later at the Royal College of Music in London, where he graduated with First Class Honours and completed his Master of Performance and Artist Diploma. He has received numerous awards in international competitions, including prizes at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Piano Competition and the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe competition. Ün continues his career internationally as a conductor, pianist and harpsichordist and has also served in artistic leadership roles at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
