Austrian jazz pianist and composer Martin Listabarth, nominated in 2025 for the "Best Newcomer" category at the Austrian Jazz Awards, will perform at the Ankara Music Festival as part of the 2026 album tour of his trio, released on the German label o-tone music. Listabarth's music has been described as a narrative that begins where words are no longer enough. His new album, In Her Footsteps, in particular, offers a musical journey through history.
The Viennese jazz pianist blends the deep-rooted tradition of jazz with classical and pop influences. Combining modern jazz with elements of classical music and pop, his style sits somewhere between Tigran Hamasyan, Johannes Brahms, and Radiohead. Enriched with inspirations from Eastern cultures, his compositions draw from landscapes, cities, and personal experiences. As a result, his works convey moods that are sometimes melancholic, sometimes thrilling, and sometimes playful. Through both his melodies and intimate storytelling on stage, he captivates his audience completely.
